We never thought about wanting to sell online courses.
Yet, it's precisely through online courses that we can fully live our lives.
We are Alessandro and Gabriel, two life enthusiasts:
slow travelers of the world, continually learning, experimenters with their own potential.
It was 2019 and, out of necessity, Gabriel found himself studying a new framework for creating mobile apps called Flutter.
We were in Italy, in the province of Turin:
immersed in the monotony of the city in which one grows up, of which one knows everything, and in which it is always difficult to fully realize oneself.
They say luck doesn't exist:
what exists is the moment when talent meets an opportunity.
That's what happened to us.
Flutter felt like a superpower to have, it made our work much easier and fun.
Yet, no one was talking about it in Italy.
We decided to create a mini-course to understand if there was actually interest:
our goal was to help other developers be more productive, while at the same time building a passive income for us that could support our side projects.
When it came time to choose on which platform to sell our course, we realized that the options available did not meet our needs:
they limited our creativity to templates that seemed stuck in 2010 and had an expensive basic plan that we couldn't afford.
So, we preferred to create our own website to host the course.
Gabriel is a developer after all.
We knew nothing about selling online courses.
The earnings were a few hundred euros a month, which we invested entirely in improving our website.
In February 2020, just before Covid crisis, the unexpected happened.
We received an email asking if our website could also be used by other people:
it was from a teacher with over 20,000 students.
big numbers for a niche market like the italian one.
We realized we were not the only ones feeling unsatisfied by the other platforms on the market.
So, we started working on our website to turn it effectively into a reusable platform by multiple course creators.
Meanwhile, the more we worked to improve it, the more we understood the best practices to increase conversions.
Improving the platform increased our income from selling courses, so the hundreds of euros a month became thousands:
and here another great transformation happened.
We had enough money to leave the province of Turin and start exploring the world.
October 2021, first destination:
Las Palmas, Canary Islands.
Suddenly, the feeling of warmth on the skin.
We found ourselves hiking on Roque Nublo, spending afternoons working at The Couple while enjoying the view on the beach, surfing at sunsets, running on El Confital.
Simple, and yet, fulfilling experiences.
The days became long and intense, full of beautiful memories and people that, with our same ambitions and desire to live life fully, opened us to new points of view.
We never stopped since that October 2021.
We continue to travel and work together, enriching our lives with new cultures and funny anecdotes:
sipping a mate sitting in Bosque de Palermo in Buenos Aires, savoring a Bun Cha overlooking Lady Buddha in Da Nang.
Meanwhile, our students kept asking us for more courses:
in five years, we have come to produce about twenty courses.
This inevitably taught us what an online course platform should be like:
with as few frictions as possible to acquire new users and focusing on the students throughout their entire educational journey.
That's why we implemented learning paths, and onboarding system and made signing up for users as easy as typing their email, removing the need for passwords.
Our fundamental principle is freedom.
For this reason, we have no intention of raising external capital:
we want to remain independent, continuing to work while traveling.
This principle also defines why we are so opposed to vendor lock-in and we allow access to all data of one's platform.
Creatora is bornt to serve those like us:
curious about the world, dreamers, and brave.
We hope this service can help you find time for your freedom.
This is our obsession.
